Civil Engineer is o Professional Engineer, who deals with the Technical Aspects of the design and construction of the built space, applying the principles of engineering science.

Main activities of Civil Engineering is the planning, the design, the supervision of construction, the configuration and maintenance of buildings, roads, bridges, towers, stadiums, ports, dams, offshore and coastal structures, airports, water supply systems, water treatment plants, health care, mining, gaiokataskefon etc. It deals with design problems, management and construction projects and large-scale technical systems maintenance, such as the above.

As cognitive industry divided into various categories, such as structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, marine engineering, hydraulics, the Transportation etc., and overlaps with areas of related but distinct disciplines such as Architecture and Environmental Engineering.

 

The free exercise of civil engineering profession is permitted only:

Holders of a diploma in Civil Engineering of the Universities in Greece or equivalent schools abroad

Those who have recognized the right of civil engineering practice the profession in accordance with the provisions of Presidential Decree 38/2010.
